98 cherokee cluster not working

Default 98 cherokee cluster not working

so I picked up a another xj! its a built 98. im having problems with the cluster not working. I nget the air bag light check eng light all the lights work but the tach or volt, temp etc. doesn't work. im thinking that I may have bad cluster.any ideas on what to check.


I tore the dash out and checked all plugs. fuses all good and relays are good

This is unfortunately pretty common. It is caused by a bad connection with the panel and the wiring. I was able to fix mine by just pushing the panel backwards to make a better connection.

Since you already have the panel out, just clean the connections well and add some dielectric grease and make sure your connectors are making good contact.

That should do it. If not, then you have to start performing the diagnostic steps from the manual.

Ill have to try pushing it backwards. I did clean them an also greased them
