I'm buying a 1994 jeep cherokee off my parents and the engine isnt very good on it anymore and the transmission needs replaced pretty soon so i was wondering if you guys know what kind of engine and transmission i should put in it but i need a engine that i can take off roading and have fun in and my jeep has a automatic transmission in it right now
I would just grab-up another AW4 at a junkyard or off of Craigslist, toss it back in with the original Engine, and drive the wheels off of it!!!
That fosure would be the cheapest and the easiest route to go!

With just a 2 inch lift you will be fine. Go with another 4.0 HO motor and AW4 auto tranny from a 91-95 XJ and you will be good. That shoud be the same set up that you have in you 94 now.

That set up would be fine. Rough Country makes good products and they have about the best prices going for XJ lift kits. I have Rough Country X Flex Control Arms on my XJ and I love them. I'll probably end up getting RC's long arm kit too eventually. because I'm sure when I get ready to install long arms there's will be the best deal.

A 3 inch lift will put you right at the perfect lift for 31s....and there is a guy who goes by (aircrewallan) who has a deal on a set of 31 inch tires on a set of really nice polished aluminum wheels for sale right now. He is a PNW boy. He is up in Oak Harbor with me. I've seen the rims and tires. They are like brand new. You should check them out.
