Hello, I am new to this site. I purchased this ‘89 Wagoneer last summer with 68k original miles. The only issue it seemed to have was that it sat for a real long time. Since owning it for about 7 months I’ve had to replace the fuel pump, the fuel tank, the injectors, the harmonic balancer, fuel pressure regulator, and some more I just can’t think of it all at the top of my head. I am not versed in Cherokees, or any cars for that matter. My father-In law has helped me get it running and going. Since I am useless, I wanted to try to get some information by myself (or by the help of you folks)
My Jeep has been starting to get really hot while I’m driving up high hilled highways. I have notice that trying to stay the speed limit of 65 is hard going uphill without causing the temp gauge to start going towards the red line. Normally, my jeep rides 210 degrees when driving. According to my father-in law, the fan is working fine. My Jeep idles low but I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. I just don’t know what to do at this point and I could really use some advice.
Thank you
Have you resolved this issue? You may get more responses if you post in the "Stock XJ Cherokee Tech" section. There is currently a rather lengthy thread on an overheating 4.0. Are you familiar with how to get all of the air out of the coolant system as it is filled? Very nice Waggy
