The jeep cherokee is extremely simple and lots of fun, which is why it's so possible. If you get stumped, just sit back and think about it cuz it's probably simplier than you're thinking. YouTube.com is a great resource for learning things about your jeep. Lots of pictures and video. If you find yourself getting stressed out over a jeep, it's probably time to pick up a new hobby like knitting . Just my two cents, take it or leave it!!

ALRIGHT. So on the 88 you CANNOT get to the fuel pump from inside of the car. (To the few that said you could.) AND it would've been easier to drop the tank to get the pump out. But we got the pump switched out. Still not running. So now we RE-check all the fuses and relays to see what's goin' on. Also going to change the CPS as well.

This is an adventure, isn't it?

I'm sure none of us said you can get it from inside the jeep. Well I hope you can figure it out. If not pm me and I'll run you through all the info.

OK , the cps unit , is a mother ****ing **** sucking ****ing pain in my god damn ***... lol ... took me a minute to get off ... and during the install of the new one , I just so happened to drop the damn bolt into the tranny ... YAY .. So , as far as any forward progression tonight , it has come to a stand still ... Literally had the cps held in the right spot , went to thread on the top bolt , and it slipped , I moved the lil cover for just a sec to get a better angle and "tink"..... -.- .... SOOOO, some one told me there is a cover that i can pop off and fish it out , that or I gotta drop the whole tranny. which is ****ing fabulous . both of those options suck if you ask me .. lol ..

Any ways , if you know ne tricks or what ever to solve this NEW issue that I have created , ill be on the line for a minute tonight , had to throw in the towell other wise id be replacing windows as well , Im freeking Irate . I still got a good week to get this beast running so i suppose patience , a virture which i SUCK at , is something I will need to learn eh .

Like i said Ill be online here for a while tonight trying to relax a bit . suggestions welcome , mockery is deserved but not wanted , and yeah , thats all i got , FML.. lol

Yeah the CPS is a real fun one, now are you wishing you would have tried the CPS way back when I said it lol It's on man none of use like doing the CPS but it is something that likes to go out (Carry a extra one).

You have a buddy that is a Jeep freak and you have been on here trying to trouble shoot things online with us lol Hope he is able to help you out.

Nope no snow in town, the hills are getting some but not in town. We are hoping for it though, then we get to go around and pull people out that think they can get over a 2-3' snow bank in a lowered honda lmao

I got a cat I need to put down today RIP SATIVA SUNSHINE , and from this point , looks like my *** is walking to dothis , which ,is ****ED ... any how , ill keep ya posted ....

SIDE NOTE ... why doesnt this forum make some sort of an area where there can be live chat rather than thread after thread .. just a thought . any how , ciao for now thanks for all the input , and YES , i should have swapped the cps days and days ago, lesson learned .. i am now humbled to the jeep gods , NOW CAN WE GET THIS MAH FUGGER WORKING !!!!???

STUMPED

Ok here is the update

Bolt in tranny - Removed with out damaging anything .replaced cover plate(if thats what its called

CPS unit - Old one removed , New one installed. All wires are hooked up .

Fuel pump- Old one removed , New one installed The new fuel pump does not kick on or whine at all when the key is turned to acc.I checked the connector that run directly to the fuel pump from the main power and was getting about 5.70 to 6.00 (I also ran some wires from my battery to my old fuel pump , and it did not kick on or run not sure if this suggests that the old fuel pump was bad , or that you need to hook it up in the tank to make it run properly )
***there was a lil wire that ran on the electrical component inside the gas tank right next to the fuel pump that kept coming unclipped when i was trying to re install the fuel pump , i got it on there tight before i put it in , but if this clip were to come off , could that be the issue , not sure what its called , but its about 3 inches long , the male side is like a little metal tabe , and the female side just slides right on it like a clip , sorry for lack of technical terms for this part .

Battery- Tested the battery with the multimeter last night and we were over 11. So I know the bat had enough juice to turn her over .

Relays- Checked the three relays that are in the front by the battery , none of them are blown , tested with a multimeter and we are getting power in all of them .
**In my chiltons manuel or whatever its called , it says there is like 5 or 6 relays , believe it was called the power control unit ?? If this is the case , I would need to check the other relays , but I cant find them any where.

I checked the shrauder valve to see if any fuel would come out , and there is nothing .
I checked the fuses under the steering wheel all is in check ...

SO , my only hypotonis is this ...
Either , I hooked up the fuel pump wrong , and that is the reason that it is not running.
There is some sort of a ground or missing power going from the main power that is not getting back to the pump , so there is not enough juice to turn it on .

+++ I tried to start it in neutral , so maybe there is some sort or a switch that it needs to be in park to start , i really hope that it is not this , i will feel like an ******* , BUT , i did get it in park last night , and still did not hear the pump turn on when i went to acc power..

I have also heard the idea that the ecu could have went out ..

OR , I need to find the other relays ...

I am stumped here , seem to be getting power to the places that i need , fuses are good , so its either something simple that i missed ,or its something bigger than I have over looked ..

suggestions are welcome ! happy turkey day every one .

Default fuel pump resister .

That I did NOT try last night , your just saying to take those two wires , wrap the ends up together ? do i need to peel the plastic back so the wires actually touch one another ? Ill try that as soon as i get home if that is the case .
