Ive got a similar question, would 99-05 jeep grand cherokee seats work in an xj? I see in those threads that the zj seats are the same but with different rails and its an easy rail swap. But, does that stand true for the later models as well?

Well yea I know a torch and a saws all can make just about anything happen. But, im talking about being able to simply unbolt the xj seat from its rails and bolting on the late model grand cherokee seat to the xjs rails? Is it a direct swap? Ive got a line on some grand cherokee seats for pretty cheap, and since my xj suffers from the ever-present left sided *** sag, Id grab them if they will work.

 

people talk about bolting the zj power seats onto the xj tracks wich is fine but if the zj was a power seat then isnt the recliner usually power too ? and how would you recline the seat back ?

 

Yea, i heard the same. However, the seats im talking about would be wj or wk (i think; 99-05 grand chero) so im wondering if those would bolt up to the xj rails as well.

It's a jeep anything is possible. If someone can body lift an xj then yes it is possible.

 

From what I have read it can be done but does require some modification. I am in the process of putting half of a 2000 WJ rear seat in my Cherokee so I can put a tool box on the other side. This also takes some modding.

 

what does a body lift on an xj look like?

 

cant do a body lift on xj's they are a unibody
