They also have c-clips and yes you can use the disc brakes.

it turns out its a d35, like i have now but with disks. if i weld on leaf perches, i can use this and its stock d30 up front to get disks and a better gear ratio, correct?

i am getting hte whole 94 zj, minus engine and tranny, for 200 bucks. i figure i can do the brake system swap, axle swap, sway bar swap, seat swap, and whatever else i can think of or mod to fit and have some coolio stuff. its even got an overhead console with small visors so i will get the temp and all that junk too to go with the one i have now

It would be a lot easier to just swap the brakes onto your axle than cutting off the 4 link stuff and welding on new perches and shock mounts.

Willie Worthy had that rear axle in his Grand. He hated it, it isn't a good axle because the aluminum housing heats and cools at a different rate than the steel bearings causing wear. A lot of shops will not even rebuild them.
For $200.00 or so buy a 95 or newer explorer 8.8 and you have a stronger axle with 8.8 ring gear, a larger diameter pinon, and 31 spline shafts with stronger steel and disc brakes. imo

Just because it's a Grand doesn't mean it has 3.73s. Mine had 3.55s. Check before you do all the work and it would still be easier to swap gears than all the fab needed to swap the whole axle.
