zj coils w/ s10 packs
anybody ever do this?
im thinking of grabbing some v8 grand cherokee springs...and a s 10 leaf pack
with the s 10 leaf pack i was going to cut the bushings off the pack, and just use the main leaf in a spare cherokee pack i have...im hopping it will give me about 2 inches of life..anybody have experience with this? is the ride quality good? and is there anything i need for the front (yes i have shocks...2 sets one is for 0-2 inch of lift, another hopefully im getting for free are skyjackers for 2-4 inch lift)
and for the leaf pack...im just going to need center pins, u bolts, and the spring wrap things that hold the pack together right?
also going to grab the front sway bar and mounts off of the v-8 zj
does all of this sound correct?? im hitting the JY on tuesday.

i run orvis/up country v8 zj coils they gave me 2 1/2 in inches and ride nice and soft. But the s10 pack is gonna ride rough. Search "bastard pack" theres tons of threads on here about doing it. you can also use dakota leaves

so y do you say the bastard pack rides rough? have you done one?
if you are going to go for the bastard pack and are only guna go 2in use jeep ones. s10 ones have more arch cause they are leaf under axle where as jeeps are over. I run a full s/10 pack under my jeep main, rides rougher than stock to me but most people that ride with me cant believe how smooth it is. Some even say rides smoother than there stock. Buy good shocks

I have done both the bastard pack with s10 springs, I cut off the eyes and used my old main leaf. New ubolts and center bolts, IT DOES RIDE ROUGH...but it is a Jeep so who cares. That got me about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in the back and the ability to care about any amount of weight without hitting the tires (235s) on the body. This was happening all the time so that is the reason for the bastard pack on the back.
On the front I put some brand new Grand Cherokee V8 springs. The redrunner (my old jeep) picked up about 1 1/2 inches because the old coils were junk. I put donuts on the top of the new coils to balance out the height. Again IT DOES RIDE ROUGH...I run a snow plow on my jeep so I was bottoming out with the stock worn out springs in the front.
Personally the ride is not that bad but it sure is not a caddy! Hope this helps

i just found a site that says you get 2 inch in the rear by using a main leaf off of another cherokee pack...so im going to do that...also about an inch or 1- 1/2 inch from zj springs. so i godda find some spacers or make some. or just grab isolators.
