I wish I had two side-by-side, but I don't today...
Which ZJ 4WD parts fit XJ's? Both are 4.0 with AW4.
I'm asking about transfer case, front axle, rear axle (mmm... disc brakes), driveshafts, etc...
I want to convert my little 2dr 2wd XJ to 4wd, and I found a crashed ZJ that I can get for near-nothing.
I'm no good at comparing and pirating parts... I'm more into electrical and diagnostic work.

most of the suspention components are interchangable for a bastard lift like the front coils alone will giv you a 1" lift, the motor and tranys yes are all interchangable with maybe yes i believ all driv train are interchangable depending on the years (different computer options depending on year difference) and alot of grand cherokees had the 242 x-case you can use it but you probably wont like it for (I know I dont)

The ZJ isnt the best choice for a 4wd conversion for the following reasons.
The t-case will not be a np231 or np242.
The rear axle will has coil buckets, instead of perches. This is easily fixed by welding new ones on.. but still.
I believe the front axle is a LP d30
the front driveshaft is a non-cv style.
You are better off finding a xj to strip for parts

Since you are in Nashville, go to Pull A Part. They just placed a 96 and a 86 on the lot on Tuesday. Might have a good chance of finding parts off of them. Everything else on the lot is junk. These are the first new vehicles on the lot in a month and what was there when I went in mid March had been canabolized.
