Default Yoke Replacement

My 99 8.25 axle yoke is messed up and I am wanting to replace it with the liberty 8.25 flange style adapter. Can i just remove the nut and then bolt the other adapter on? or do the bearings need to be preloaded so a certain spec, or will it mess with me ring and pinion mating surfaces at all? Once again its just a unbolt and bolt on. I just need to know if that is ok or is there going to be bad consequences just doing it that way?
