Default yoke problems

I purchased a new yoke for a Dana 44 off the net for my Dana 44 diff that didn't have one when i bought it.

The new yoke only slides half way down on the spline then really tightens up be for it seats all the way down.

Is there more than one kind of 44 yoke? anyone ever have this problem?

OK I'm a stupid head

I took the rear-end to a shop and the guy puts a little grease on the shaft then put the yoke on as far as it would go(half way)
Then he puts a aluminum bar across the yoke.
Then takes a big hammer and smacks it on with two or three blows. done! I didn't think you could hit it that hard with out damaging it. newbie
