Default YJ spare tire mount on XJ?

ok, so I've officially given up my several month long search for an OEM XJ swing out tire carrier, and was wondering if anyone had ever bolted a fixed mount to the rear door on their Cherokee? i was seriously thinking about doing it

2 problems:

1. The rear hatch is not strong enough to handle the weight of the spare.

2. You would have a hell of a time opening the hatch not to mention keeping it open.

I always used vice grips clamped to worn out lift struts to keep the hatch open. Easier and more convenient the a board.
