YJ axle swap to XJ
Ok, could I put every thing in the front 92 YJ axle into my 97 XJ front axle. ie the axle shafts are TJ style, big u-joints 1 piece pass shaft and it has a lock right and 4.10 gears. And would the rear axle just bolt up. Somebody has said it would. This guy has them for sale for 1000.00. would it be a good buy? He wont separate them.

The rear wont just bolt up, it would need spring perches and shock mounts welded on... and it's a D35 c-clip axle. Avoid.. there are other heavier duty axles that WILL bolt in.
The front would take quite a bit of work to install also. You could use the shafts (if your a non CAD axle) and the locker. Gears would require setting up.. labor intensive and usually expensive if you cant do it yourself.
And even if they could just bolt in... $1K is stiff for what he's selling.
You would be better off finding factory XJ axles in 4:10 ratio, and buying a locker. Axles can be found for 50-100 bux in most upulls.

Ooops forgot to say the rear is a ford 8.8 with a with 4.10 and a Aussie locker, disk brakes u-bolts and plates, and parking brake cables. I was thinking it would be cheaper to use all the parts from the 30 to put into mine and then have the rear 8.8 (gears and locker) even with having to fab the rear to fit. Compared to going to find or buy all that stuff for my front and a jy 8.8

LOL! No dont have a welder, I would have to pay some one to do the work. I am thinkn its a good buy, 4.10 gears lockers, Ford 8.8 and the fab work and gutting and restuffing the fronts. My guess even if I spent another 1000.00 to get the work done it would be good. There is a jy 8.8 that I could buy for 200.00 but then would have to get gears and the aussie for it. and all the stuff to upgrade my front, and again someone to do the work.
