Well the tstat housing is where you would look first for a temp around 190-200, the head probably around 200+, things of that nature. If you were at 230 all the time when you shut the jeep off you would hear it gurgling through the pressure bottle

Pressure bottle is gone. It's now an open system. Looks like I will be getting an IR gun.

You would hear/see it out the overflow in the open system. Same crap different pile when it comes to overheating

Precisely. I've never trusted IP gages for troubleshooting - they're "relative status" indicators to me. Yeah, I'd rather have a gage than a lamp; but I only trust gages I select & install...

Oh - and carpe noctem - you've spelt it wrong. Meanwhile, carpe cerivisi...

Ok I'm at a loss. I'm still overheating on the freeway! I have replaced the ENTIRE cooling system, and converted it to open system. I also switched the e-fan to a switch but that's not causing any problems. Rad new, water pump new, t-stat new and tested, block is flushed. Maybe I'm retarted and I'm missing something. I have taken apart the pcv valve and cleaned it. I'm at a loss.

I guess I didn't think that would be a big deal. You think that's all it could be? Yes new fan clutch. Started with that them t-stat then pump

Big tires/stock gears, big bumper/winch combo? Air flow to/thru grille blocked? Shouldn't need any fan(s) at all at hi-way speeds.....just a clear shot thru the grille for air to pass.

That's what I was thinking at freeway speeds. 33s stock gears but it over heated on stock tires. Bumper no winch. Nothing blocking air flow.
