Default yet another lighting problem...

okay, so I set up 4 Hella 500 lights on my Thule MOAB rack, I got them all wired up and everything, but when I turn on one switch one light comes on and all 3 others are very dim, but turned on. when I turn on the other switch the same happens, just a different light is bright and the other 3 are dim, when I turn on both switches, the two left lights come on bright and the two left lights turn off. The center two lights are connected to one switch and the outter two lights are connected to the other switch. the key here is the grounds are spliced into eachother and then all ran on one wire back to the tailgate where its grounded, im wondering if maybe this could be the problem. anybody got anything else?

make sure all the connections are good and if you mean your rear hatch its fiberglass so that could very well be your problem but either way make sure to use like at least like a #10 wire to ground that many lights
