Default I've tried everything...

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0l straight six.

The car is acting like it has a massive vacuum leak. It throttles up on engine start and there are popping sounds around the intake manifold. I've reseated the manifold and sealed the gasket. I've checked every plug and every sensor. I tested the MAP sensor on another chrysler vehicle and it works fine. There are no blown fuses. There are no loose grounds. I also replaced the computer.

What in god's name am I missing, here?

Prior to this problem I had a blown head gasket. I repaired that problem and since then it's been having THIS problem. This would lead me to believe I messed it up somewhere during reassembly. But I can't figure out for the LIFE of me what the hell I could have done.

Help, please.

sounds like you indeed have a Vacuum leak..did you clean the face of the head/intake? Install the gasket correct? torque correct and in sequence? I know its a hard place to get to but gum cutter will show a vacuum leak well.

the popping is a little weird, possible back fire/misfire. did you remove the distributor for some reason? could the timing be off? really shouldn't be.
