I searched but could not find much if any info. So I got a XM radio unit for my 96 XJ Sport. Pretty cool but just wondering...anyone else have one installed. If so where did you mount the antenna? Also where did you install the head unit? Any finally I have spend the past hour researching and found nothing....so this comes with the whole plug into your cigarette thing. While that nice and all it joins my plug ins for my cell charger, my IPod charger, my GPS charger, and the plug in for the DVD player so my little girl can watch Nemo for the billionth time. So 5 plug ins fighting for one position. My question is does anyone know of a mod to splice the XM for it to have power?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I have a 1999 Limited. We have a Sirrus head unit shared between several of our vehicles with docking mounts installed. Here's how I approached the XJ install. The Sirrus docking units have a cig lighter plug (male end) that can not be cut/spliced into 12volts. Must use the cig lighter plug. So I bought a secondary 12v/cig lighter plug (female end) for around $5 and wired into a constant 12v source under the dash. Ran the Sirrus power wires from the docking unit into the dash where the 12v plug is hidden. I used the magnet Sirrus antenna and located it on the left rear of the roof right be the hatch door. The antenna wire is run along the hatch rubber seal to the lower area of the hatch and run under the carpeting up to under the dash. Then it is plugged into the docking unit. I use a Sirrus FM converter unit that goes between the antenna and radio to keep from finding a weak radio station and Sirrus radio frequency process. This gives much better, clearer reception. Finally, I used the windsheild mount/suction cup and mounted the docking unit just to the right on the upper center dashboard. Never did find a good perm docking unit mount and the suction cup works fine. Hope this helps.
check out jamestown distributors. add on flush mount 12v outlets, usb adapters and outlets.
add a couple in your center console, and wire hot to a switched spare/empty spot on your fuse box, and ground the ground, add a fuse in the empty spot ( the outlets i got are rated for 16 amps so i run a 15 amp fuse), and your good to go. and most of the stuff they sell is for boating. so its at least watertight and has corrosion proof guts. good stuff, in my duck boat and in my jeep.
