Both are unibody vehicles and share a lot of similarities, but I doubt the trailer hitch has the same mounting points that a XJ has.

ZJ hitch will work on a XJ. You just need to relocate 2 bolt holes. I would look for a stock XJ hitch though from a JunkYard. Has 4 more mounting points than the ZJ hitch. Got mine for $30 with the nut strips....

Interesting...

What has to be done on the ZJ to utilize the four additional mounting holes on the XJ hitch. I was looking to sell/swap my XJ's hitch for a ZJ, this sounds like a possible better option.

You know of a write up somewhere, preferably with pics?

X2 about finding an XJ in the junkyard with a hitch. Try finding an XJ with a towing package and a class III hitch.

The XJ's unibody was left unchanged for the most part during the entire production run. The trailer hitch mounting points are the same on any year XJ.

Thanks.

I went to a junk yard today and I found a bunch on older jeeps, but they were all rusted to hell.

Yeah that's how it usually is. There's more XJs that ended up in a junkyard for being POS's than there are nice rust free crashed ones.

I think you have your "own" thread for this question already...why not just wait for an answer or use Google.

I used Google and did not find much. One page said you can make them fit. Another said they are not even close. I found a cheap set local and don't want someone to buy them from under me. Jeep parts go fast so if they do fit id like to get them.
