Well I hope it's the cables but everything is covered in massive quantities of oil, and look the wires-care for fried?

But as you can see, one problem can domino effect into several more.
If you ever can, you need to replace your cables with ones that have factory-sealed ends. That will prevent corrosion problems like you just experienced.
The aftermarket "repair" ends should only be used temporarily. They are not really a fix.
I'm glad it wasn't the starter. This time. You mentioned a lot of oil on the engine. I found out that that can cause starter failure.

use a wire brush and clean that rust/corrosion off the battery clamp. then spray them with hairspray (yup, that's right). this will prevent a build up of corrosion. or you can use those felt donuts on the posts.
spray both clamps once you get them tightened back on.

going to get some covers for the terminals ASAP.
