Thanks Firestorm. It cranked with the first jump, but he waited drive it around until Monday Night Raw was over-go figure. When he tried to crank her again she wouldn't, and tried another another jump she wouldn't budge.
I just want to be sure he's fixing the right thing.

fast-clicking is the noise the starter makes when its not getting enough power from the battery to engage. its possible the battery is good and the problem is with the starter or wire, but 99% of the time its the battery.
you said you bought a new one recently, why did you buy a new one?

A dead cell in your "new" battery will also cause this. It's easier to check for that than pulling the starter and having it checked. Just pull the battery out tomorrow, take it to Advance and have them do a load check on it.

Ok, I will have him get a load check on the batt this morning. I bought the battery brand new in October because after my son left the dome lights on a couple of times, after a few jumps and charges it wouldn't charge any longer, it was a very old battery so I replaced it.

[QUOTE="freegdr;3045886"] Turn the headlights on and try and start while some one watchs them if they dim way down its a connection/voltage issue if not its most likely a starter issue. Have you tried hitting the starter with a hammer yet then try and start. If it starts then drive to auto parts and replace it there.[/QUOTE/
Ok I'll have him to try the first suggestion, then the second-will report back

Your battery is no good. I know you just got it in October, but even new puppies die. It's not holding a charge. Take it back for a warranty replacement and have the charging system checked.

Definitely have the battery tested. In fact, Advance Auto Parts is required to perform a battery test before they can replace the battery under warranty. Again, the battery must be fully charged to perform this test. Therefore, they will likely have to leave it on a charger overnight.
If the battery will not charge, or a test reveals a dead cell or some other problem, Advance Auto will replace it free since it's only three months old. If the battery charges up OK, and a test reveals no problems, this suggests the problem is with the vehicle. In that case, install the charged battery back into the Jeep and drive it to Advance to have the charging system and starter tested.
If you install the battery into the Jeep after it's charged, and the Jeep still won't start, then we can regroup and start troubleshooting.

Starting an engine requires cold cranking amps. A battery can easily put out 12 volts and power the radio and lights, yet can't put out enough amps to turn over the engine. Rule number one for electrical problems is to start with the battery, it is the king of the system. If the battery checks out them you work your way back by checking the cables, then the starter...
