Default XJ Window Issue

Hey guys, Im kinda new here. I have a 98 XJ Sport with power windows and locks. My problem is with the front drivers window, which has the automatic down. The window rolls up and down fine, but when I use the auto down feature, is seems the motor wants to keep rolling down, even when the window is already down. Once it gets to this point, something (im assuming the motor) makes a hideous noise that sounds like a grinding sound.

What is my problem? Do I need a new motor? A small component in the motor?

I can find parts easily as I live in the Motor City and have thousands of parts jeeps within a few miles of me in any given direction. I just don't want to buy stuff I don't need.

I attached a Youtube Video to my thread that shows the problem live, sorry for the poor video quality as I took it with my phone, but it demonstrates the problem well.

Thanks in advance guys!

that grinding noise is the part of the assembily that pulls the window down if you take your door panel off an watch it all you will understand all your switch is doing is not disengaging when it hits that point if you allow that noise to happen for like a min it will stop an you will have to take it all apart just pay attion to it an ull be fine

So im assuming that means I should take the motor itself apart? When I watch the system work without the door panel on, everything looks fine. Is it worth my time to take the motor apart and see if anything is wrong in there? Or should I just try and find a new unit all together and replace the whole thing?

I do think its in the motor.

Mine does the same thing...be careful with it...haha its not the gearing on the bottom of the window or anything it definatly resonates from the motor, and im not sure if you can disassemble it (the motor)...i checked mine out and decided to leave it be since it still works

If you grind it too much going down, it will do it on the way up too....yes i found that out the fun way haha

Doesnt seem to affect anything as of yet, and its been doing it since i got it (over a year) so i guess id just take it easy on it and make it last as long as possible due to the fact the assembly is pretty pricey most places

So is it a matter of replacing the switch to correct the issue?
