Default XJ Water Intrusion

Lately the carpet of the front passenger footwell of my Cherokee has been soaking wet. There appears to be nothing coming in from above as the floor mat is dry except for the bottom side lying over the carpet, so I think the water is coming in from underneath. I have however noticed rust spots on the carpet around the bolts holding the seat frame to the floor. Is this a common leak area on the Cherokee?

sounds like a leaking heater core. the water travels down the front fire wall and pools under the carpet.

First thing is crawl underneath and look for holes. Next is pull up the carpet around the wet areas and see what you find. My guess is if you are seeing rust spots you have rust holes forming...Better to fix now then let it sit.

Water on the passenger floor is 75% heater core, 10% of the time leaking windshield, 10% plugged AC drain tube, and less than 5% of the time other leakages. that gives you 4 areas to check.

If your heater core is leaking you will have antifreeze smell inside of jeep and your windshield will fog up when you have the heat on.

I had this problem on the drivers side, turns out it was my door seals.

I have the same problem. My carpet has been soaking wet and it reeks of antifreez in my Jeep. How hard is it to replace the heater core? Is there a How-to around anywhere?
