Default XJ v8 engine swap help

(93' Cherokee XJ, 4x4) I wanted to swap out my 2.5 L, 4 Cyl. engine for a 360, v8 engine. A friend told me that I wouldn't have to modify the mounts if i swapped in the 360. Is this true? If so, what else would I have to change/modify to make this work? thanks.

To do a V8 you will have to modify EVERYTHING from the mounts to the tranny and the TC. Do a swap to a 4.0 I6, still a big mod but at least your XJ was built to handle it.

This ^^^^^.... if you are hell bent on doing a V8 swap. think about these:

1. Do you have shop/garage to do the the work
2. metal working tools such namley welder or access to these
3. fabricating skills or someone who does
4. last but most important $$ / Time
if yes to all these then go here: http://www.novak-adapt.com/

Don't let your friend help you with this project.

+1 on what others have said. This is a big job that will require gobs of custom fabrication, careful planning, and serious ability.

I don't want to sound rude, but if you have to ask, you shouldn't be doing this. This is a lot of work, trust me on that. You will also have to convert it all to the 4.0 nose and custom radiator too. Really not worth it.

Not on a '93... They are the same.... It wouldn't be that hard if you have a complete donor vehicle...... Just search it up.

Really, I have never seen that in the hundreds of XJs I have seen in the yards. All the 4 bangers I have seen have the early style radiator and cowl

According to the dealer I go to, they started making them the same in the late '80's... My '99 4 popper used the same rad as a 4.0... Only difference between my '98 4.0, and my 2000 4.0 and the '99 2.5 was the fan shroud(and motor mounts, but they just unbolt and bolt the 4.0 one in)...

So how many of you nay-sayers have ever done a V8 swap into an XJ?

Be honest.
