XJ Track Bar Axel Mount Fix
After dealing with the Jeep dancing all over the road I had my wife rock the wheel while I looked at the track bar mounting bolt on the axel move back and forth in its own hole.
Got a grade 8 bolt, washers and nut. Ended up using a 7/16-14 x 3" bolt and some 3/8" washers.
Burnt out the track bar bushing. Had to use an air hammer and a lot of heat to get the metal sleeve out.
A break in the action
Ugh!!
Drilling out the new bushing to 7/16"
Physics' crowbar.
The old bushing
7/16" nut with tab to emulate the OEM setup.
Installed and ready to weld the washer.
Welded
This did tighten up the steering. Next on the list is sway bar links, mounting bushings and an alignment.
Thanks for looking!
