XJ T-Case Skid plate enhancement
I have bashed my Skid twice now and I'm sick of taking it off, and using a 10 pound sledge hammer, to bend it back and flatten it.
Although I am VERY happy it was there doing it's job!!!
I have bought a 3 foot stick of 1/2 inch angle steal and welded it to the top side to reinforce/enhance it.
First I marked in the dirt on the skid where the best placement of the angle would fit.
Then flattened it and sanded off the powder coat, cut each piece to length and beveled the ends to fit tight.
Welded each piece into place after tack welding in place so it wouldn't warp during the weld.
Cleaned off the slag and burnt powder coating and painted it to keep it a little rust resistant.
I can't wait for the rocks to see what their up against now!!!
