XJ sway bar linkages
While driving down Woodward (at about 50), I hit an open sewer hole with my 98. I've fixed the shocks, all around, and noticed during the job that the front passenger side swaybar linkage was snapped at the weld. I went out and got 2 new ones, figuring that replacing both sides at the same time would be smart. I also changed the sway bar bushings (2).
My question is...
Is there a specific tourque (in pounds) that they (the sway bar links) need to be tightened down to?
Do I need to get an alignment?
Do I grease the bushings before I put them in place?
Is replacing these going to cause increased stress on any other specific component?
Plus, please feel free to add ANY sort of advice you might think would help!
Thanks-
Billy

I just replaced my front sway bar bushings with some Daystar poly bushings and they came with instructions on what to lube and not lube. I can tell you they recomended lubing the I.D. of the bushing holding the swaybar to the subframe, as far as the swaybar endlinks, I can't help out as I swapped out my stockers for disconnects at the same time, so I did'nt pay much attention to those instructions. I'd recommend doing a little reearch on the website of the manufacturer of your bushings and see if you cant find what you need there. I think its a little odd they did'nt include some guidance with your kit. As far as alignment, it should'nt effect anything. As far as adversly stressing any other components, I've never heard of new bushings causing a problem.

as far as end links theres no fancy torque spec. its an easy swap. i would say just tight them by the feel of the rachet or wrench.

hey for the torque...just dont over tighten on them bushins, give them a little room to move...as for alignment, i would, but thats me so its up to you if ya want to, it should throw it off that bad...uhh you dont have to but to put them on easier you can...and no they shouldnt put stress on anyother component

the swaybar bolts are funny. i was tightening mine and it would get really hard to turn the wrench, then easy, then it snapped. so now i only have three bolts holding the swaybar in haha.
it would probably be good to grease them before, but i dont think you need to get an alignment because you didnt shift the front axle at all
