Default XJ suddenly died and sputters

Someone please help! I have a 89 XJ 4.0. Yesterday I went mudding, my jeep is stock and there were two mud holes I could choose from. One is very small and I can make it thru with no problem, the other one is fairly large and I knew it was too deep for my jeep, Id say it was about 2 1/2 fr deep in the most shallow place. I ran thru the small hole a few times and each time I drove the jeep up a small hill in front of the mud hole to stop myself... the last time I did, I put it in reverse and backed down the hill too fast and backed into the large mud hole, by the time i realized what had happened I knew it was too late, I put it in drive and barely made it out. Once I knew I could go thru the big hole I went thru it forward. Thats when I knew I messed up.. I was leaving the area where the holes were and my jeep started to sputter very bad and lost all power. I came to a stop an put it in park and tried to rev and it would not. I turned it off and sat there for a few minutes to see if that would help. Eventually it did after restarting it several times it cleared up and acted normal. Ran fine after that. I drove on pavement a little while and it seemed fine so I went home. I drove this morning and Suddenly my wheel locked up going around a turn on a hill all lights stayed on and the vehicle came to a stop as if it had no power and died. I stopped and put my ebrake up and cut the engine off and restarted it. It started fine and ran normal after that, I pulled off the side of the road and checked all my wheels and everything was good. So I continued my trip to like normal. I was on my home and it ran fine until I began to pull into my driveway and it died suddenly, all dash lights were still on and headlights. No check engine light has came on. I came to a stop. Turned the ignition off and back on and the jeep started but began to sputter really bad like yesterday.. my idle was very low but somehow It idled on in the driveway and I parked but it was still sputtering very badly. I turned it off and havent tried to start it since. However I assume my crank sensor is bad because it takes it a few tries to crank and my engine gets hot very fast also. Does anyone know what could be wrong?! I assume theres water that went down my exhaust?

How deep did the Jeep go?? A lot of stuff under the hood to get wet that gets real grumpy when it does. I'd start by popping every connector and drying them out. Good time for Cruiser's Renix Tips if you haven't already done 'em.

Brakes siezing is another issue. Unless maybe you have some messed up ABS.

Change fluids yet?

I must agree on a stock height XJ there are a lot of electronics to get wet that will cause these issues. I have had mine submerged more than once in creeks where it died and had to be winched out. Start by drying all the connectors well and see that comes with that.
