XJ overheating
how deep was the snow? if it blocked up the rad, no air flow. this happens with a lot of cars that sit lower. driving in deep snow will pack in the rad and electric fan and cause it to over heat.

no, nothing leaking. I just got it running not too long ago. New fuel pump, and complete exhaust system. (stock system) It was running fine but I was rolling about 6in of snow.

if your coolant is low the pump cant pump it so the radiator cant cool it. amazingly enough it still expands enough to boil over. Had that problem last year with the leaky rad. was a slow leak but when it got low it would happen.

Resevior cap should not be loose enough for the system to release pressure. Water boils at a higher temp when under pressure, thus you need to maintain a closed system.
