Default XJ Occasionally Needs to Be Started From Neutral

Hello. I have a 1998 XJ that every once in a while needs to be started from neutral. It really doesn't bother me, as it only happens once every couple weeks or so and I know that dropping it into neutral will remedy the problem. I'm just curious as to what could be causing it. Any ideas?

your neutral safety switch is going out. its on the passenger side of the tranny. you can unbolt it and clean it out. sometimes that takes care of the issue. if not just replace it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. After a little research, it looks like a pretty easy fix.
