XJ lock replacement
Hey again,
Just picked up a 2001 XJ and my driver side exterior door lock apparently took a knocking. I can unlock it, but it's a bit tough. Looking to replace the whole thing so the shop can reset it properly. Take a look at the photo.
Anyone know where to buy a replacement for cheap?
Thanks,
-XJM

Replacement you can get from any auto-parts store (a direct 100% replacement, minus the actual tumbler for the key)
Removal is easy,
Pull the door panel off and poke your head inside the door. You will see the lock cylinder, with a rod and a standard "lock-rod" clip that Jeep uses.
Flip the lock-rod clip off the lock, and remove the "C" clip that holds the lock cylinder to the outer door skin. Once you remove the c-clip, the lock should pop out (from the outside, so push from the "inside" of the door panel)
Installation is the reverse;
Slide the lock-cylinder back into the door,
Install the c-clip
Re-attach the lock-rod
Test for proper operation before putting the door panel all the way back on, incase you have any misalignment issues
