Ok guys, I got a 98 XJ and I put the rubber floor mats back in the driver/passenger side front floor for the winter time (snowy boots etc). The floor mats are designed to hold the water to a certain extent. I know they will hold the water and do not leak. But after one day of PA snow, I decided to pick up and drain the water that was collecting on the floormat and BAM!, factory carpet on the floor was soaked on the drivers side and had a small spot on the passenger side as well. Did anyone else ever experience a problem with damp floors? Is their something I can do to prevent it?

That's what my floors looked like when I pulled the carpet up. In your case, just crawl underneath the car and check it out... You could just have holes in your floor causing the snow to get it soaking wet.

xj guy, im afraid if I don't get it fixed, my floor will look like yours, it isn't rotted if you crawl under the jeep and physically look. Where the goofy looking round plug is under the drivers floor its just starting to bubble around there. Its actually damp more toward the driver seat vs. up further where your feet would go to control the pedals. Il have to look into the weather strip deal and see if that cures it. is it possible for the floor mats to be sweating? Is that even possible

You need to check where your antennae wire runs into the cab of the vehicle from the fender. If that grommit that seals the hole is out, water that is usually channeled to the ground through your fender flows right into that hole by running down the antennae wire.. Happened to mine, took forever to figure out what it was. The grommit is right above the kick panel, should be able to see it if you stick your head under there and take the kick panel off. Also, the way the water runs makes it go UNDER the carpet and through the insulations, eventually soaking through to the carpet... Its a very sneaky leak.
