Ok so what I want to do is get a header panel from an earlier xj being that I like the body style of the older ones and I want to put it on my 99 xj so I have the look of a say a 96 with the interior of my 99.. my question is has anyone done this and will it work or is it not even worth it... let me know what you all think...

Header panel, grille, wiring harness, bumper, and mounts for less than $100
I got some other small stuff at the same time so the header/grill were probably only $60.
Only thing I left behind were the lights themselves as I already have them.
I have a 96 with some front end damage ( grill and header )

all you need is the header panel and the fenders for the same year (they are different). look on ebay for the header panel thats where i got mine. someone on there sells them new for a little over $100 and it comes with the header, grille, head light bezels and all the marker lights

Won't be the same year dude ... he's swapping new style header for old style.
OP, what color is your XJ? I could trade ya - and I'm in Jersey.
Edit: wait ... yours is damaged, isn't it?

the only difference with the fenders is one has rounded edges, the older has hard edges. but the will all bolt up the same.
for the header, the newer one has two marker bulbs, the older only has one. so some slight modification may be needed in the harness.
that's all.

Actually I think there is more different in the fenders than that. They won't fit up right with the different header/grille
