Default XJ Cherokee 95

My 95 Jeep Cherokee recently developed a strange "breaking down" feeling between about 1600 revs and 1900 revs, above 1900 revs it runs fine and same below 1600 revs. Engine isn't missing and timing seems fine. Feels more like a fuel/air or even a vacuum problem. Has anyone else experienced this or similar??? When it happens it makes a real "grungie" type sound. I am currently trying to work out the problem.

Have you checked the tps or o2 sensor?

Your TPS is failing. I had the exact same issue. You may be able to adjust your TPS for your year. I had to buy an new one because I could not adjust mine.

Throttle position sensor- it's located against the throttle body. It's an easy swap out. Mine failed at 70k. My O2 also gave me a similar problem though so I'd check them both. Aloha.
