XJ Cherokee 1996 4.0 AW4 Auto reverse gear problem

XJ Cherokee 1996 4.0 AW4 Auto reverse gear problem
Hi,
Put a hole in the transmission sump and limped home with low fluild.
Drained and refilled with Dextrol II.
Can get forward gears but no reverse, reverse lights light up and I've disconnected the linkage at the gear selector and manually pulled the cable... same story.
What makes the gearbox select reverse, a valve? A gear?
Any idea's what could be wrong?
