Driving my xj about 75-80mph for a 3 hour trip and it started loosing power but only for a sec. did it a few times however opened the hood everything seemed fine, its not running hot and it's getting plenty of oil pressure

then i was driving on base the other day at about 25-30mph and it completely cut out on me, i got out checked everything once again and everything seemed fine and it staerted right back up, a few mins later i got pulled over , one of our new guys, when i stopped it shut off on me after then traffic stop it cranked right up then it shut off again and immediatley started back up. got it home without any further problems, i was told it could be the crank position sensor however it's damn near $70 and would like to make sure before putting the money there

mods i have done:
ford injectors 19lbs
stock tb to 62mm
rusty's exhaust
cold air intake
Accel cap rotor plugs wires coil

 

That is exactly how my 98 was acting when my CPS was taking a dump. Change it as soon as you can or it my leave you stranded.

 

Yup changed it yesterday cant belive a magnetic pickup and a few wires cost $60 after discounts lol but yup alice is running like a champ again

nvm just did it again after 2 days of working just fine it just kicked like a mule then died twice at the same stop light, starts right back up no problems, normal idle,
RPM was slightly spiking in NEUTRAL,
i do have a slight whistle coming from under the hood (pretty sure gasket under TB)
it doesn't make any noises piror to dying it just dies so more then likely something electrical
