XJ Body Trim
I have a silver 2000 XJ with the black plastic body trim running down the sides. Over the years, It is no longer black, and has turned an ugly gray. How can I get it back to black?

On monday I'm gonna clean them with brake cleaner and then spray paint them with paint the bonds to plastic, I'll let you know how it goes.

Go up to Autozone, NAPA, or whatever your auto parts store is and get a can of Duplicolor's Black Trim paint. It's a spray can (about $5 or $6) and it works tremendously well. A little wet/dry sand paper to prep the plastic, brake cleaner to get any grime off, tape off the trim and spray away. 2 coats and mine held up without any fade for 2 years. Then i decided to just get rid of it 'cuz I wanted a different look.

save yourself some time and money and just use a heat gun, or propane torch to bring the black back. it took me about 4 minutes to do all the trim pieces on my xj. look nice and dark again!

Oxidized Trim
Heat gun works great to glaze the oxidized surface layer, turns nice and black again, start on low heat and don't get carried away, you don't want a melt down, just a reglazing of the surface.
