Default XJ blower fan fix, & switch for cheap

So my camping toy, '92 Laredo, has ice cold AC... when it works. Lost its cool yesterday, turned out to just be a snapped vacuum line at the heater control valve. Easy fix. Another problem I've seen is that sometimes the fan works perfect, sometimes it won't work at all, on any setting. It finally just quit altogether.

Fuse was fine, figured it'd be either the blower switch, the blower resistor, or both. So I went out and bought both. I've noticed from googling & searching this and other forums, people have been having trouble getting JUST the switch(stealership sells you the entire panel). Of course, I'd prefer all Jeep parts, but this is a budget build. Nuts to that, got both the switch & the resistor right down the street at Autozone.

Resistor #JA1493 $9.99

Switch #SW4779 $12.99

Turns out the switch was fine, the resistor fixed it up. But I'm going to hang onto the switch anyway, I'll install it after I replace the power feed wire with a slightly heavier gauge line(with factory wiring, running the fan on just the first 3 settings will help extend the life of the connector, and thereby the switch).

One screw at the front of the cover, another at the back, and there's the resistor.

The two 5/32 or 7mm screws are all that hold it in place, depending on your tools, you may need to drop the vac actuator to access the rear one.

Old resistor was completely rusted out, no wonder it died!

Install is just reverse of removal, whole job took about ten minutes.

All back together, and the fan is singing along happily.
