Back to the wipers again...does anyone know where the ground is for the front wiper motor?
Whenever they go out, I try to pull it apart to get a meter on the plug but by the time I disassemble everything, the motor has power again.
One day when it stopped working I just hit the metal next to the plastic cowl and they came back on. So I really think its just a bad connection, not a bad motor.
I hate diagnosing intermittent problems

Anyone have the FSM so I can figure this out ?

I'm putting in new leaf springs this Saturday, should I buy new leaf spring bolts from the dealership or buy some grade 8 bolts? Old ones are getting cut out.

I have a steering question. I recently installed a new pump, hoses and steering box in my 98 XJ. I had marked the position of the tension pulley to make sure I returned the belt to the proper tension. The steering was really tight causing the pump to whine and the steering would not come back to center by itself. I took the steps to loosen my steering box until it was easier to turn and the wheels come back on there own. However, the pump is still whining and sounds labored upon turning. Is it possible that the belt is too tight/loose or may the pump have been damaged during the initial use of an over tight steering box? On a side note, possibly related, when the ac compressor kicks on during defrost cycle the truck looses rpm initially at idle and a minor initial lose of power while cruising. Any thoughts?

I think I saw someone talking about a similar issue the other day but after I drive it around and get it warmed up if I cut it then start it back up just a few minutes later, it has a very low idle somewhere around 500-600 rpm and doesn't level out unless I punch it real quick. Could this just be a gunked up throttle position sensor or something close to that?

Easiest donors for a replacement 4.0L in a '99 XJ? I'm thinking '97-99 would bolt in, and of course '00/01 motors would require ignition changes and attention to the 0331.
