Default wtf

My xj has an oil leak i guess because of too much pressure and it was filling up the air filter with oil so we unhooked the tube going to the air filter so that pressure wouldnt build up and let it leak out. as a result (im guessing) oil is dripping onto the tire i guess and covering my drivers side in oil, the entire front fender and door and back fender are covered in a fine mist of oil. do i need a new engine? i think it could be a main seal leaking but at this point its losing so much oil im not sure what to do.

Check your PCV Valve. And you can put a inline filter on your tube going to the valve cover from the airbox.

I goofed. jeeps don't have a pcv valve. they have a ccv system.
there's no check valve, it's just an open tube.
it takes clean air from the front of the airbox and puts the unburnt mixture back into the intake.
that's why a clogged rear line will cause oil to build up in the air filter

the smaller line relives crank case pressure at idle the larger line relives crank case pressure when there is no vacum by the suction of the throttle body drawing in air while driving both must be clear and connected or the pressure in the crank case will blow oil out
