WTB door trim moldings. Anybody have them?
I just ripped off some more of the molding on the rear passenger door this last weekend. The Jeep got really muddy and the power washing loosened things up a bit. I'm thinking of changing course and stripping all of the existing factory plastic, etc and then doing a Line-X strip instead. I have never removed this stuff from an auto and was wondering what you would recommend for ripping or grinding this all off? I plan on priming before I Line X so if grinding is the easiest I just as soon do that.
Pretty sure Line-X proper is not DIY.
I would just use the 3M 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.
I would dribble some on the top of the molding, let it sit for a couple seconds, and guessing you could start working it off that way.
There is the dental floss/fishing line trick. Just get behind it and "saw" it off.
Be careful with that cause if you are not flush on the body and get a little skewed it will slice the molding.
Figure you don't want to do that cause guessing you will try to sell it to make a couple bucks.
And you can clean the body with the 3M stuff to.
Or just an eraser wheel. You have to watch to not burn the paint with that but if you are bed lining then guessing it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the tips on taking this off. The rest of the molding is barely hanging on so I should be able to just easily peel it off. It was the stick, plasticky black stuff that I think will be difficult to get off.
