Wrangler Transfer case in Cherokee
I'm hoping somone can give me some advice on a problem I have run into while putting a replacement transfer case (NP231) into my 1995 4cyl. 5 speed Cherokee. I bought a transfer case off of an older (1989?) 4cyl. 5 speed Wrangler thinking it would bolt right up under my Cherokee. I got it attached to the transmission and rear driveshaft no problem. The problem is that the front driveshaft will not connect properly to the front output yoke of the transfer case. Apparantly there are two different style of front output yokes for the NP231J. Anyone have any ideas of how to get my front driveshaft connected without replacing the front output yoke? Is there an adapter? Can I buy a different front driveshaft?

To the best of my knowledge, Your gonna need to swap the yoke. The XJ uses a CV shaft (three u-joints) where the YJ only had two.. one on each end.
You'll also need to cap off the vacuum switch on the YJ transfercase. Your 95 shouldnt have a vacuum operated CAD front axle.
Also, i may remember something about the YJ transfer being clocked differently? Did it sit exactly the same way as your old TC?
