So I finally figuared out what caused BabyJ to suddenly die one day. No symptioms or issues. Just shut down. Chased every option, except for timing chain, since it only had 150k on it since rebuild.
Besides the rotor turned when I turned the key. But something just didn't sound right. Opened things up and found this.....

Unfortunately I don't know what " quality " brand the kit was. Import from some country far ...far... away.

Quality parts always pay for themselves one way or another...Hopefully the oil filter caught the shavings...Keep an eye on the pump pressure in the future sometimes those shavings tear up the pump...
I have a habit of cutting open the oil filters just to see what's in there.. That gives a heads up something might be wrong...

is the 4.0 an "interference" motor ?

^ Thankfully not. When it died it was as if the key was turned off. No mechanical sound whatsoever.

I would install a roller timing chain , I wish they made one for a 2001
