Would a 99 starter fit a 96 xj

I have doubts about this 99 -01 have one part number and 88-98 another. Does anybody know the diferences between them?Thanks for the help everyone

it will physically bolt up, no problem. but the difference is with the connectors.
the 99 will have a plastic clip for the signal wire where as the 96 should have an integrated bolt on connector that bolts to both posts.
i could get my wifes 97 tj starter to bolt up to my 99tj by bolting my plastic clip to her starter, but couldn't use my 99 starter on her 97 because of my plastic clip mount.
but who knows, maybe the xj starters are different...?
