wont start... sitting for a year

wont start... sitting for a year
97 xj... hadnt started it in about 6 months, charged battery but it was gone.. bought new battery, ignition lights everything works but no click,click,click or anything.. havent got under it yet and i know this is a lazy post but hoping someone had same issue to guide me right to problem😁..
on my phone atm so just thought id throw this in the mix as it is a little more to navigate site to search for answers, besides did i mention im lazy today??

yeah i did that before didnt work, however i did manage to start it in neutral today.. but it did not repeat....
but now its narrowed down to that, i recall the issue here on the forums before but cant remember the part... anyone

Sometimes you'll get lucky with wiggling the gear lever, sometimes it's replacement time. Worth a wiggle first
