The neutral safety switch is located on the passenger side of the transmission. Remove it, disassemble it, clean out the old dried up grease, clean the contacts and free up the springs, relube with dielectric grease, reassemble and reinstall. It's a good idea to make a scribe mark on the switch and transmission case before removal so you can get it back where it was. Position is adjustable, but if the back-up lights work right now, it is probably in the right position.

On the older models the safety switch had a hole in it where you put a pin through to hold it in place while you adjusted the linkage --not sure of todays models.

Here is a link to an excellent article on "refurbishing" the neutral safety switch. It oftentimes (not always) restores full function to the NSS.
