Default Won't Start - Need Direction

I'm hoping someone might be able to point us in a direction.

What happened - We replaced the timing chain, head gasket/rod/rocker arms, and distributor but it back together started it up and the engine began smoking. We realized there was no fuel pressure. The engine ran for no more than 20 seconds. Took the distributor out primed the pump and no problem with oil pressure but won't start - it'll just crank.

What we know - The battery has 12 volts until you start cranking then it drops to 10 volts. The spark plugs give off a barely blue orange coloring when we tested them. The check engine light does not come on. Everything on the dash is working correctly and there are no codes.

What we've checked/tested/replaced - Alternator is good, starter is good, spark plugs are brand new, cleaned all ground wires, battery is brand new, have swapped out battery with another battery and same thing, cleaned/fixed battery connections, sensors replaced, CPK replaced, getting fuel and gone over all the wiring looking for damage/corrosion. We've uninstalled and reinstalled the distributor twice to make sure it was correct.

Suggestions??

Are you positive the timing is correct when installing the distributor? Engine and TDC and such?

Does it just crank and crank without trying to fire?

What did it sound like when it was running for those twenty seconds?

What sensors did you replace and with what brands?

Thanks for replying Trailer Trash -
1. We think so. We did the 11 o'clock, 1 0'clock so it seats the rotor cap to 5 o'clock with TDC at 0. If its more then that then no.

2. Yes, it justs cranks and cranks no firing.

3. It sounded rough.

4. Sensors - all three on throttle body, O2 sensor, Crank position sensor - mix of brands no mopar

What was wrong with the thing in the first place, causing you to replace all the parts you mentioned in this post and your previous post?

Replacing all those parts, including the head gasket , timing chain and the rocker arms is not routine maintenance.

It might help folks help you if they know the history. As it is, with all those parts being replaced it's very hard to guess if the problem is a long standing one or is something that occurred during all the recent part replacement.... there are a lot of bad parts out there

We bought this Cherokee in November. It had a rough idle in park. We replaced all fluids, new spark plugs, shocks, rear brakes, and leaf springs to give it a better ride. We then we took it to get tires, inspection, alignment. Everything was fine except for the rough idle in park. Then I took it out and is just sounded like it was struggling not jerking or anything just not sounding normal. That's when we replaced the timing chain, head gasket, etc. Since then we've replaced several parts/sensors because of suggestions we've seen online which has not worked.

possibly you have omitted some diagnostic steps you took, but if it has no fuel, I would start by diagnosing the fuel system, relay, FP, fuel filter, fuel pressure

I would probably reinstate the old sensors next
