Won't start
Hi, new to the forum and jeep.
i bought a 99 cherokee last month and was running ok till last day. The engine won't run unless it is jumped and need to stay hooked up to the cables at the same time and also the accelerator needs to be floored at all times to keep it running. If I let the pedal go, to the truck dies instantly. Can hear the fuel pump priming.any help is appreciated. Really new to all this.
Thank you.

Had a similar issue. I disconnected the battery for about a half hour then reconnected and all was well. Just for fun when you try to start it how low does the voltage of the battery fall. Maybe the battery is just bad.

Remove and clean all grounds
Check battery cables for corrosion under the insulation
Remove and clean starter battery cable contacts
Test alternator for in spec output
Test battery
hope this helps

If it dropped to 9 volts during when trying to start, your battery is toast most likely.
I would pull the battery and take it to a parts shop for testing if you can't test it at home (most don't have the equipment to put a load on a battery for testing).

Was the battery charged? Or replaced?
If the battery is bad, you can charge it, and start it, but it won't keep running.
You can have the battery tested for free at Autozone.
