Won't start 2001 XJ No power???

Have 97 jeep grand, and has no power also. Someone told me that the crank shaft position sensor can lose magnetism or the magnet can fall out after a period of time. For $50.00 it is worth the try. It's a challenge to change out. Let you know if it works, starting first thing this morning.
