Default Wont shift to second, not throwing a code.

Hey guys. I have a 1995 Cherokee 4.0 SE with the AW4 Transmission. Issue im having is 1st gear is running up till 25mph(3000rpms) till it shifts to third. Pulled the fuse on the TCU and it would run up to 3000rpms in 1-2 and then when i bumped it to 3 it was at 25mph ~1200rpms. Turned the key forward 3 times and only got the 55 code for end of codes. Fluid is good and pink, have not changed filter yet. Tried checking the solenoids at the wire harness near the dipstick and it seemed to check out within spec. Im thinking its the TCU but am not totally sure. I guess the next step is to drop the pan and change the filter/screen.
Any suggestions?

Dropping the pan and changing the screen will get you no where. I would say solenoids but it's not throwing codes. Could be a bad TCM. Maybe someone else will chime in with ideas.

Drop the pan, look at the fluid in the pan and more importantly look to see if there is any clutch pack material in the pan that would indicate wear.

IIRC, when you drop the pan you can test the solenoids. Search here and naxja, I'm sure there is some kind of write-up or at least point you in a direction for the spec and how to test them.

You may not see a CEL/code.

If the TCM sends a command to a solenoid and the solenoid does not respond electrically you will get a CEL/code. If the TCM commands a solenoid to operate and it responds (electrically) you may not get a CEL/code. However, if the solenoid is electrically functional but is stuck in one position or another, the transmission will not function properly.

1998+ transmissions have an input speed sensor that would respond to the transmission not functioning properly and would, more than likely, trigger a transmission DTC.
