I just replaced the key lock cylinder on my 2001 cherokee and all of a sudden i can no longer shift out of park. Are these 2 items related in any way? Could my shift interlock have gone bad? Just wondering what I should be looking for. Thanks in advance.

 

there is a long thin rod that must interlock properly, and the instructions are in the FSM, or on here probably...I hate working on steering columns...

 

Sounds like a pain in the rear. I unhooked the cable down by the shifter for now. I can't imagine a time where I would not have my foot on the brake when starting or shifting so it may just stay that way.
