Hello. Long story short when I first get in my 1994 XJ in the morning (4.0 auto) and start driving if you step on the gas the engine just revs higher but it does not shift out of 1st gear. This will go on until the engine gets warmer after about a mile of driving. Once it has warmed a bit it never has a problem and drives/shifts fine. Any ideas? Thanks

Upgrade fuel injectors?
Sorry bro, can't help it.

I would start checking the transmission fluid level and condition.

Also adjusting the TV cable wouldn't hurt.

I don't have any upgrade fuel injectors in MY Jeep! I'm thinking it's not transmission related. Someone else suggested idle air sensor or some other sensor that controls engine temp/air pressure/performance. But just for the heck of it I am going out and checking the transmission fluid level and condition right now (After driving it the proper distance).

OK..Checked the trans fluid..Color looked good. Was about halfway between the "add" and "full" lines. Added the correct amount. Re-adjusted the TV cable. Looked like it was in the correct spot to start with but adjusted it anyway. So I will see what happens tomorrow morning since I am heading out early and it will be chilly.

Warm up? I have it timed so I get to work with 1 minute to spare so I don't have time for no fancy warming up! I'll try it a bit, but generally I am gone in under a minute.
